SFC Stephen Cribben

SFC Stephen Cribben, a Special Forces communications sergeant assigned to

10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), was killed by small arms fire during a

combat patrol, Nov. 4, 2017, in Logar Province, Afghanistan.

Cribben was born Jan. 27, 1984, in Rawlins, Wyoming. He began his military service Nov. 20, 2002, as a military police officer. He attended One Station Unit Training, Fort

Leonard Wood, Missouri.

He served with the 55th Military Police Company, Camp Page, Korea, from 2003 to 2004; the 716th Military Police Battalion from 2004 to 2010; and the U.S. Army Garrison, Baumholder Provost Marshal Office from 2010 to 2011.

In November 2011, Cribben attended Special Forces Assessment and Selection and was selected to attend the Special Forces Qualification Course. He graduated SFQC in December 2014 and was assigned to 10th SFG (A), Fort Carson, Colorado, where he served in the positions of Special Operations Command Forward-North West Africa future plans noncommissioned officer and as senior communications sergeant for a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha.

Cribben deployed three times with the 716th Military Police Battalion Egypt in support of Bright Star in 2005, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2006, and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007. In 2017, he deployed to Afghanistan with 2nd Battalion, 10th SFG (A).

Cribben’s military education includes Military Police Advanced Individual Training, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Pathfinder School, Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Course, Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, French Special Operations Language Course, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape High Risk Course, Communications Sergeant Course, Special Warfare Operational Design Course, Special Forces Advanced

Urban Combat Course, Advanced Special Operations Techniques Level II, and Static Line Jumpmaster Course.

Cribben’s awards and decorations include the Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (8 OLC), Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal (5), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3), NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, Special Forces Tab, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Pathfinder Badge.



SSG Timothy R. McGill

 07/18/1983 – 09/21/2013

In support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, SSG McGill was KIA of wounds received from small-arms fire in Paktika Province during his second deployment to Afghanistan.

McGill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2001. He joined the Rhode Island Army National Guard in 2008 and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 200th Infantry Regiment.

SSG McGill graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in August 2011 and was assigned as a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant to 2nd Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group, in Middletown, Rhode Island, where he served until his death. death.



SSG Paul Lincoln Olmstead

Paul Lincoln Olmstead, 29, of West Valley City, passed away during a military training exercise at Fort Campbell Kentucky September 21, 2021.

Lincoln was born on April 24, 1992 in Springville, Utah to Sonia Bitter and Brian Lynn Olmstead. The family moved to Spring City, Utah in October of 1992. Lincoln was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from North Sanpete High School in Mt. Pleasant, Utah (2010) and at the same time earned his Associates Degree from Utah Valley University as a concurrent enrollment student.

He served honorably for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Joáo Pessoa, Brazil Mission (2011 – 2013). He married Danaya Morin, daughter of Benjamin and Deann Morin of Lehi, Utah formerly of Fairview, Utah December 14, 2013 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They are the proud parents of two beautiful children, Alexa Shaye (3) and Tavian Brian (1). Lincoln and Danaya attended Southern Utah University and Utah State University prior to his enlistment in the Utah Army National Guard in 2016.

He served as a Special Forces Engineer Sergeant from October 2019 with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Lincoln loved his country and was honored to wear the Green Beret.
